Jasper is an academic with a focus on education, language, and society. Jasper’s educational background began in corpus linguistics, using some of the earliest ‘big data’ approaches to studying language. His professional experience includes roles as an EAP Teacher, Head of Pre-University, Head of English, and Head of Language School at international universities in both Vietnam and Singapore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jasper is currently an Assistant Professor in Digital Literacies and Pedagogies at Durham University, UK. Since 2022, he has focused intently on the role of Generative AI and its implications for academic integrity and education. Jasper attempts to bring an interdisciplinary approach to this topic, combining methods and theoretical lenses from sociology, education, anthropology, and science and technology studies. His most recent work focuses on the developing subject of wearable AI.

Jasper’s published works include more than 30 peer reviewed articles in leading academic journals, and a monograph (How to Use Generative AI in Educational Research) published by Cambridge University Press. He is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA) and frequently speaks internationally at conferences and events. Jasper has delivered keynotes on the subject of AI and education at international conferences for leading universities, the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation), government taskforces, and publishers.
